Two lumber companies are challenging former President Obama’s expansion of the Cascade-Siskiyou National Monument. The Obama administration added nearly 48,000 acres to the monument to “protect biodiversity.” More than 80 percent of the expanded land is used for timber production. Murphy Co. and Murphy Timber Investments LLC said the move compromises timber supplies and reduces value of their land holdings.
