Our firm works on permitting and compliance regarding water quality permits, including individual and general NPDES permits (e.g. IGP) and Waste Discharge Requirements. We also defend Notices of Intent to sue and citizen suit cases brought under the Federal Clean Water Act. In that regard we have defended matters brought in recent years by various NGOs including River Watch, San Francisco Baykeeper, California Sportfishing Protection Alliance (CalSPA), Los Angeles Waterkeeper, Inland Empire Waterkeeper, and Orange County Coastkeeper, as well as non NGO bounty hunter NOIs involving numerous facilities in Southern and Northern California in nine different counties.

Our firm also regularly works throughout the state on federal CERCLA (Superfund) cleanup issues as well as the analogous California program with the Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC). Our firm deals with permitting and compliance issues related to RCRA hazardous materials issues as well as state hazardous materials business plans and federal SPPC plans.

On these efforts we interact with the USEPA, the State Water Resources Control Board, various Regional Water Quality Control Boards, and the DTSC.
