With a background in environmental law, Sarah provides clients with valuable insight into the regulatory process. She has worked on complex cases involving the Clean Water Act, the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), and the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA). Sarah uses her experience in both the public and private sectors to assist clients with a range of permitting and land use matters.
Experience
Analyzed and helped shape water policy for a large southern California water wholesale agency;
Performed extensive research on Proposition 218 and setting legal water rates in the wake of new case law;
Prepared briefs challenging the legal adequacy of CEQA documents and agency project approvals;
Researched electronic waste law and policy and advised client;
Assisted with complex CERCLA litigation and prepared memoranda analyzing CERCLA defenses;
Analyzed scope of environmental indemnity agreements in the context of CERCLA liability;
Advised client on Clean Water Act compliance matters after a Notice of Violation had been issued; and
Analyzed local fracking policies and state pre-emption issues.
