Peter C. Jansen

Peter graduated from the University of California, Davis School of Law with certificates in Environmental Law and Business Law. During law school, he served as Editor-in-Chief of Environs Journal, Symposium Co-Chair for the Environmental Law Society, and Vice President of Water Association of Law and Policy. While in law school, Peter interned with the California Department of Fish & Wildlife, the California Public Utilities Commission Administration Law Judges Division, and the District Attorney of Yolo County Department of Consumer Fraud & Environmental Protection.

After law school, Peter worked as an associate attorney for Ellison Schneider Harris & Donlan LLP in Sacramento, California, where he used his state agency experience to defend water rights and associated land uses. Peter represented public agencies, public and private institutions, and individual water users before the State Water Resources Control Board, California and federal courts, the National Marine Fisheries Service, and the California and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Services. Peter’s substantive areas of practice include various regulatory matters with environmental agencies, water rights permitting, groundwater management and adjudication, and implementation and compliance issues concerning the Sustainable Groundwater Management Act (SGMA), state and federal Endangered Species Acts (ESA), and the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA).
