Administrator of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Scott Pruitt, is resigning after facing criticism for ethical allegations for several months. The news came out in a Tweet by President Trump who accepted Pruitt’s resignation. Pruitt faced scrutiny for potential ethical lapses tied to his spending, treatment of staff, relationships with energy leaders, housing, and travel while on the job. In April, the EPA was found to have violated two laws when it spent $43,000 on a phone booth for Pruitt without seeking permission from Congress. Most recently, Pruitt has drawn scrutiny for asking aids to assist with his wife’s job search. Pruitt will be known for initiating a rollback of environmental rules to benefit the economy and overhauling the agency’s science advisory boards.
