Jury Convicts PG&E In San Bruno Pipeline Explosion Criminal Trial

A California federal jury found Pacific Gas & Electric Co. guilty Tuesday of five criminal counts alleging it violated pipeline safety standards leading up to the 2010 San Bruno gas-line explosion and a separate count alleging it obstructed a subsequent federal investigation into the explosion.  The verdict convicted PG&E .

The jury found PG&E guilty of six criminal charges including obstruction and five violations of the pipeline safety act, but acquitted it of six others.

Eight people died and dozens more were injured in the explosion and fire following the rupture of the high-pressure natural gas transmission pipeline that had a defective weld.
