On February 26, 2015, the Fresno County Planning Commission voted 5-1 to approve the Riverbend Sand and Gravel Project. The 619-acre sand and gravel mining project is expected to produce 1.25 million tons of aggregate annually and will help meet the Fresno area’s aggregate demands. The Riverbend project is the first mining project in Fresno County history to propose as part of their project an agricultural conservation easement to mitigate lands taken out of agricultural production, including 351 acres of farmland conservation easements as part its project design.

Riverbend is represented by Patrick Mitchell and Natalie Mitchell of Mitchell Chadwick LLP.

Patrick Mitchell has now permitted all of the last four greenfield mines and mine expansions permitted in Fresno County during the last 15 years.
